FPUA Director of Public Affairs & Sustainability
Rachel Tennant is a dedicated community development and grants specialist who has worked and studied in the sustainability arena since 2005. Rachel was the lead communications strategist during the launch of the WRF Relocation in early 2022, with incredible collaboration throughout the municipal utility company and invaluable support from outside contractors.
Previously, she worked with indigenous communities in Peru and Bolivia on sustainable livelihoods and conflict mitigation across governments, private sector, and local communities. She has also worked at the federal Environmental Protection Agency to develop tutorials that encourage schools to test their drinking water for lead.
Rachel is a member of the Florida Bar and graduated from Mitchell Hamline School of Law in June 2023. She also holds a Master of Science in Sustainable Development and Conservation Biology, a Master of Public Policy in Environmental Policy, and a Graduate Certificate in Geospatial Information Sciences from the University of Maryland College Park. She graduated from Florida International University in 2009 with a Bachelor of Environmental Science and a Certificate in Agro-ecology.
The Director of Public Affairs and Sustainability oversees FPUA’s community engagement initiatives, as well as FPUA’s grant acquisitions and management which are necessary to support some of FPUA’s large infrastructure projects.
